Computer-assisted structure determination. Structure of the peptide moroidin from Laportea moroides

Abstract

A combination of NMR and molecular modeling techniques has been used to fully assign the stereochemical relationships in the bicyclic peptide moroidin. The structure proposed results from a peptide backbone constructed exclusively from L amino acids. An unusual C-N linkage between the tryptophan and histidine residues has been found to be between C2 of tryptophan and N1 of the imidazole moiety of histidine.
