Abstract

A new alkaloid, petchicine, has been isolated from the stem bark of Petchia ceylanica and its structure was established by spectroscopic studies. The 13C NMR spectra of ajmalicinine, cabucine and fluorocarpamine, which have been isolated from the stem bark of Petchia ceylanica for the first time, are also reported. © 1983.
