Cell suspension cultures of E. distachya produced three acylamino acids. Na-Malonyl-L-tryptophan was isolated along with 5'-S-methyl-S-thioadenosine and stigmast-4-ene-3-one from normally cultured cells, while the production of p-coumaroylglycine, p-coumaroyl-D-alanine and cinnamic acid was induced by the addition of yeast extract to the early stationary phase of cultures.
