Two novel dimeric indole alkaloids, coryzeylamine (2) and deformylcoryzeylamine (3), were isolated from the leaves of Hunteria zeylanica native to Thailand. Their structures were elucidated by spectral methods including positive high resolution FAB-MS, UV, and NMR (1H, 13C, 2D NMR such as HH-COSY, HSQC, HMBC, NOESY). Coryzeylamine is composed of sarpagine-type and echitamine-type (corymine) monoterpenoid indole alkaloids. Deformylcoryzeylamine is a deformyl derivative of coryzeylamine. To the best of our knowledge, these two compounds are the first examples of dimeric indole alkaloids which are composed of sarpagine-type and echitamine-type monoterpenoid indole alkaloids.
