Abstract

A new growth inhibitor isolated from an acetone extract of light-exposed seedlings of Sakurajima radish, was characterized as 2-thioxothiazolidine-4-carboxylic acid by spectral data. It inhibited the growth of hypocotyl sections of radish seedlings and intact hypocotyls of lettuce seedlings at concentrations higher than 3 mg/l.
