Two new biphenylquinolizidine alkaloids, 5-epi-dihydrolyfoline (1) and its stereoisomer dihydrolyfoline (2) (a diastereomeric pair differing only in the configuration at C-5), along with the known alkaloid lagerine (3), were isolated from the aerial parts of Lagerstroemia indica. The structures of compounds 1-3 were elucidated by extensive spectroscopic techniques including 1D and 2D NMR experiments, mass spectra, and other spectroscopic data. The complete 1H and 13C NMR assignments for these compounds are reported.
