Abstract

Compounds which are considered to be intermediates in the biosynthesis of stilbenes have been examined as substrates using acetone powders of Eucalyptus sideroxylon leaves under a variety of conditions. No stilbene synthesis could be demonstrated. It is suggested that normally the intermediates do not exist in the free form during biosynthesis.
