Abstract

The administration of labelled spermine [tetramethylene- 1.4-'VJ to Zea mays shoots resulted in the formation of radioactive p-aminobutyric acid (GABA). A chemical degradation of radioactive GABA suggested that its radioactivity was located on C-l and C-4, indicating that GABA is a product of spermine metabolism in maize seedlings.
