Abstract

As guided by bioassay to reverse chloroquine resistance in strains of Plasmodium falciparum, three bisisoquinoline alkaloids pertaining to a novel group, the pavine-benzyltatrahydroisoquinoline dimers, were isolated from stem barks of Hernandia voyromii Jumelle. Their chemical structures were determined by conventional spectral methods assisted by the performance of the 2D NMR techniques, namely COSY LR, HMQC and HMBC.
