Abstract

An extract of Acacia georginae seed has yielded several amino compounds not previously recorded as plant constituents. These include an acidic sulphur-containing amino acid, S-(2-hydroxy-2-carboxyethanethiomethyl)-L-cysteine, and the following y-glutamyl peptides: r-glutamylalbizziine, y-glutamylasparagine, y-glutamylglutamic acid and probably y-glutamyldjenkolic acid sulphoxide. y-Glutamylaspartic acid also was identified as a constituent of the seeds. Several other compounds, isolated in mg amounts, still await full characterization.
