Abstract

A novel member of the phenazine group of metabolites, diphenazithionin, has been isolated as an inhibitor of lipid peroxidation from Streptomyces griseus ISP 5236. It possesses a unique structure composing of two different phenazinecarboxylic acids connected by a sulfur linkage.
