<jats:title>Abstract</jats:title><jats:p>The rhizobacteria <jats:italic>Burkholderia cepacia</jats:italic> biosynthesized the new tetrapeptide Cyclo[<jats:italic>N</jats:italic>‐(Lys‐Phe)‐Orn‐Val] (1), a 2,5‐diketopiperazine, and the known siderophore azurechelin (salicylic acid). The structure of 1 was established by means of IR, UV, <jats:sup>1</jats:sup>H and <jats:sup>13</jats:sup>C NMR, double dimension experiments and MS. Copyright © 2006 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
