Abstract

N-(13-Methyltetradecyl)acetamide and β-sitosterol were separated from three brands of Capsicum annuum L., i.e., Hontaka, Kaimon, and Daruma, and the latter and palmitic acid were identified in the fruits of Santaka, another form of C. annuum L., and myristic acid in Hontaka. Eight kinds of amino acids and two kinds of amino sugars were detected by an amino acid analyser from Santaka. From the herbs of Farfugium hiberniflorum (MAKINO) KITAM. (Ligularia hiberniflora MAKINO; Japanese name: Kan-tsuwabuki) (Compositae) five constituents were isolated and characterized; bakkenolide A (I), β-sitosterol, palmitic acid, linoleic acid, and linolenic acid.
