The leaves of Zanthoxylum acutifolium afforded five new quinolone alkaloids which were identified on the basis of spectroscopic analysis as acutifolin, acutifolidin, O-methylacutifolin, acutifolin palmitate and neoacutifolin. In addition, the known compounds (E, E)-N-(2-methylpropyl)-2,4-tetradecadienamide, (E)-3,4-dimethoxycinnamic acid and beta-sitosterol were also isolated and characterized.
