Abstract

In our continuing comparative study of the diterpenoid content of the Caribbean gorgonian Eunicea succinea from different locations around Puerto Rico, three new cembranolide diterpenes, named 12,13-bisepieupalmerin acetate [5], 12-epi-eupalmerin acetate [6], and succinolide [7], were isolated from specimens collected off the east coast of Puerto Rico. The structure of each compound was deduced spectroscopically, and those of 5 and 7 were confirmed by chemical correlation with compounds of known structure.
