Abstract
A Western Australian sponge, Axinella sp., yielded three polyalkylated indoles unsubstituted at C3, thus apparently not derived from tryptophan. The three compounds, herbindoles A, B, and C, are cytotoxic against KB cells and are fish antifeedants.
