<jats:p>The ester alkaloids rostratine and dihydrorostratine were isolated and characterized. On the basis of the mass spectral fragmentation pattern their acetate ester groups were assigned to the C12 and thenicotinate ester groups to the C20 hydroxyl groups of the steroid skeleton.
