Abstract

<jats:title>Abstract</jats:title><jats:p>The complete structure of one of the <jats:italic>O</jats:italic>‐specific polysaccharide components from the soda lake bacterium <jats:italic>Halomonas magadii</jats:italic> is described. The structural determination, which was achieved by chemical, spectroscopic, and computational analysis, indicates a novel trisaccharide repeating unit made up of glucose and two units of 2‐acetamido‐2‐deoxy‐guluronic acid: ⇄4)‐α‐<jats:sc>L</jats:sc>‐Gul<jats:italic>p</jats:italic>NAcA‐(1⇄6)‐α‐<jats:sc>D</jats:sc>‐Glc<jats:italic>p</jats:italic>‐(1⇄4)‐α‐<jats:sc>L</jats:sc>‐Gul<jats:italic>p</jats:italic>NAcA‐(1⇄ (© Wiley‐VCH Verlag GmbH &amp; Co.
