Phytochemical studies on the basic fraction of Senecio racemosus have resulted in the isolation of a new saturated pyrrolizidine diester alkaloid, racemodine along with 7-angelylplatynecine and dihydroretrorsine. The structure of the new alkaloid was established from spectral and chemical studies including 2D NMR. © 1993.
