Six metabolites have been isolated from Aspergillus nidulans. Two of them are new metabolites and named emerin and emericellin, respectively. Emerin is greenish yellow columnar, mp 225•226•Ž and has been showen to be 1,4-di-(p-methoxyphenyl)-2,3-dinitrilo-1,3-butadiene. Emericellin is yellow prisms, mp 110•112•Ž and has been shown to be 1-hydroxy-4- (3-methyl-2-butenyl)-6-methyl-7- (3-methyl-2-butenyloxy)-8-hydroxymethyl-xanthone. Other metabolites were identified as shamixanthone, sterigmatocystin, averufin, and versicolorin C, respectively.
