A new antifungal agent, previously coded as MSD-A43F1~3) has been found to be produced by Verticillium lamellicola (F. E. V. Smith) W. Gams. Verlamelin is a lipopeptolide of new structure. In this communication, the production, isolation, biological activity, characterization and structure of verlamelin are reported.
