Abstract

A new triterpene designated marsglobiferin and β-amyrin-3-acetate were isolated from the mild acid hydrolysate of the ethanol extract of the stems of Marsdenia globifera. The structure of the new compound was elucidated as 3β,16β,21β,22α,28-pentahydroxy-olean-12-ene on the bases of chemical and spectral evidence including 2D NMR experiments.
