<jats:title>Abstract</jats:title><jats:p><jats:italic>Roemeria refracta</jats:italic> DC. (Papaveraceae) of Turkish origin yielded two novel epimeric <jats:italic>N</jats:italic>‐oxides, (−)‐(5<jats:italic>R</jats:italic>, 11<jats:italic>S</jats:italic>,14<jats:italic>R</jats:italic>)‐reframidine <jats:italic>N</jats:italic>‐oxide ( = (−)‐(5<jats:italic>R</jats:italic>, 11<jats:italic>S</jats:italic>,14<jats:italic>R</jats:italic>)‐11,12‐dihydro‐14‐methyl‐11,5‐(iminomethano)‐5<jats:italic>H</jats:italic> ‐cyclohepta[1, 2‐<jats:italic>f</jats:italic>: 4, 5‐<jats:italic>f</jats:italic>′]bis[1,3]benzodioxole 14‐oxide; <jats:bold>1</jats:bold>) and (−)‐(5<jats:italic>R</jats:italic>, 11<jats:italic>S</jats:italic>, 14<jats:italic>S</jats:italic>)‐reframidine <jats:italic>N</jats:italic>‐oxide ( = (−)‐(5<jats:italic>R</jats:italic>, 11<jats:italic>S</jats:italic>, 14<jats:italic>S</jats:italic>)‐11, 12‐dihydro‐14‐methyl‐11, 5‐(iminomethano)‐5<jats:italic>H</jats:italic>‐cyclohepta[1, 2‐<jats:italic>f</jats:italic>:4, 5‐<jats:italic>f</jats:italic>′]bis[1, 3]benzodioxole 14‐oxide; <jats:bold>2</jats:bold>). The isolated (−)‐roelactamine ( = (−)‐11, 12‐dihydro‐14‐methyl‐11, 5‐(iminomethano)‐5<jats:italic>H</jats:italic>‐cyclohepta[1, 2‐<jats:italic>f</jats:italic>:4, 5‐<jats:italic>f</jats:italic>′]bis[1, 3]benzodioxol‐15‐one, <jats:bold>4</jats:bold>) is the first natural isopavinoid incorporating a lactam group. The epimeric (−)‐15‐(2‐oxopropyl)reframidines ( = (−)‐1‐[11, 12‐dihydro‐14‐methyl‐11, 5‐(iminomethano)‐5<jats:italic>H</jats:italic>‐cyclohepta[1, 2‐<jats:italic>f</jats:italic>:4, 5‐<jats:italic>f</jats:italic>′]bis[1, 3]benzodioxol‐15‐y1]propan‐2‐ones; <jats:bold>5/6</jats:bold>) and the epimeric (−)‐ethyl (reframidin‐15‐yl)acetates ( = (−)‐ethyl [11, 12‐dihydro‐14‐methyl‐11, 5‐(iminomethano)‐5<jats:italic>H</jats:italic>‐cyclohepta[1, 2‐<jats:italic>f</jats:italic>:4, 5‐<jats:italic>f</jats:italic>′]bis[1, 3]benzodioxol‐15‐y1]acetates; <jats:bold>7/8</jats:bold>) are probably artifacts. (±)‐Coclaurine (<jats:bold>9</jats:bold>), (±)‐<jats:italic>N</jats:italic>‐methylcoclaurine (<jats:bold>10</jats:bold>), (−)‐roemeridine (<jats:bold>11</jats:bold>), and <jats:italic>N</jats:italic>‐feruloyltyramine (<jats:bold>12</jats:bold>) are also isolated from <jats:italic>R. refracta</jats:italic> together with the previously reported bases. Specific <jats:sup>13</jats:sup>C‐NMR assignments are reported for the first time for the isopavines.
