Two new pregnane alkaloids, named N,N-dimethylamino-3a-tigloylamino-pregn-5-ene (1) and 3a-N-methylamino-pregn-5, 14, 16-trien-20-one (2), were isolated from the whole plants of Sarcococca orientalis. Their structures were assigned by interpreting the spectroscopic data and comparing the literature. Compounds 1 and 2 exhibited a certain inhibitory effects on NO production in lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-activated BV-2 microglial cells with IC50 values of 16.88 +/- 0.10 and 24.26 +/- 0.30 mu M, respectively.
