A new coumarin alkaloid with an unprecedented phenyl tetrahydropyridine skeleton (7-(4-(3,4-dihydroxyphenyl)- 1,2,3,4-tetrahydropyridin-3-yl)-2H-chromen-2-one) named celocoumasidin (1) has been isolated from the n-butanol extract of the aerial parts of Celosia trigyna L. The structure was determined by extensive spectroscopic analysis as well as mass spectrometric fragmentation. © 2023 Connect Journals
