Abstract

A novel C16N2Lycopodium alkaloid, phlefargesiine A (1), was isolated from the whole plant of the club moss Phlegmariurus fargesii. The structure and absolute configuration were determined by extensive spectroscopic and computational methods. Compound 1 possesses an unprecedented [6/7/6/6]-tetracyclic framework, of which the seven-membered ring (ring B) is constructed through a hitherto unknown C-4–C-14 linkage. © 2016 Elsevier Ltd
