A new dimeric bromopyrrole alkaloid possessing a benzocyclobutane ring, benzosceptrin C (1), has been isolated from an Okinawan marine sponge of the genus Agelas (SS-956), and the structure and relative stereochemistry were elucidated from spectroscopic data.
