A new ervatamine alkaloid, 5-oxo-19,20-dehydroervatamine, in addition to N1-methoxy-19,20-dehydroervatamine, 19,20-dehydroervatamine and methuenine has been isolated from the leaves of Tabernaemontana corymbosa. The structure of the new alkaloid was established by spectral methods. A study of several samples indicated some variation in alkaloidal composition.
