Abstract

From the bark of Aeschrion crenata Vell. (sin. Picrasma crenata (Vell.) Engl.) 1-carbomethoxy-β-carboline (I) and two new β-carboline bases, named crenatine (II) and crenatidine (III), have been isolated. The structures of II and III are 1-ethyl-4-methoxy-β-carboline and 1-ethyl-4,8-dimethoxy-β-carboline, respectively. © 1971.
