Abstract

Nerine falcata Barker and TV. laticoma (Ker) Dur. and Schinz. have been found to contain lycorine, caranine and a new alkaloid which has been named falcatine. The empirical formula and functional groups of falcatine have been determined. Evidence is presented that the aromatic ring contains methylenedioxy and methoxyl groups. © 1955, American Chemical Society. All rights reserved.
