The following 12 known alkaloids were isolated from the fruits (f), leaves (lv), trunk-barks (t) and root-bark (r-b) of Tabernanthe pubescens: coronaridine (f), voaphylline (lv), tetrahydroalstonine (lv), voaphylline hydroxy-indolenine (lv), 11-hydroxy tabersonine (lv), ibogamine (t), ibogaine (t, r-b), ibogaline (t), iboxygaine (t), voacangine (r-b), voacangine hydroxy-indolenine (r-b), and voacristine (r-b). Four new alkaloids were also isolated. These were 3,6-oxido iboxygaine (t), 10-hydroxy coronaridine (lv), 10-hydroxy heyneanine (lv), 3,6-oxido ibogaine (r-b), whose structures were established through chemical correlations with the parent alkaloids. © 1981, American Chemical Society.
