The study of Aconitum carmichaeli roots from Hokkaido, Japan, has resulted in the isolation of eight alkaloids. Four of them have been identified as mesaconitine, hypaconitine, aconitine and senbusine C, which are known components of this plant. Among the remaining four alkaloids, two have been found identical with neoline (1) and ignavine (2) which have been obtained from other Aconitum species. The two new alkaloids, hokbusine A and B, are represented by formulas 3 and 4, respectively. © 1983, American Chemical Society. All rights reserved.
