Abstract

Two closely related water-soluble alkaloids cryptaustoline and cryptowoline iodides have been isolated from the bark of Cryptocarya bowiei (Hook.) Druce. Both have been shown to be derivatives of dibenzo[b, g]pyrrocoline. This constitutes the first isolation of substances containing this nucleus from natural sources. © 1953, CSIRO.
