Abstract

<jats:title>Abstract</jats:title><jats:p>From bulbs of <jats:italic>Eucomis autumnalis Graeb (Liliaceae)</jats:italic> autumnariol (<jats:bold>1</jats:bold>) and autumnariniol (<jats:bold>4</jats:bold>), two new substituted dibenzo‐α‐pyrones have been isolated. Their structures have been determined mainly using spectroscopic techniques. In the NMR. spectra of <jats:bold>1</jats:bold> and <jats:bold>4</jats:bold> and related model compounds an unusuallong‐range coupling over six bonds has been demonstrated.
