Abstract

Three sterols, 5a-ergost-7-en-3b-ol, 5a-ergosta-7,22-dien-3b-ol and 5,8-epidioxy-5a,8aergosta-6,22-dien-3b-ol and five triterpenes, applanoxidic acids A, C, F, G and H, have been isolated from Ganoderma annulare. The applanoxidic acids A, C and F were found to inhibit the growth of the fungi Microsporum cannis and Trichophyton mentagrophytes at concentrations of 500 to 1000 mgyml.
