Isolation of Two New IAA Conjugates, 7’O-d-Glucopyranoside of 3,7-Dihydroxy-2-Indolinone-3-Acetic Acid and 8’-O--d-Glucopyranoside of 8-Hydroxy-2-Quinolone-4-Carboxylic Acid, from Immature Sweet Corn Kernels (Zea maysL)

Abstract

In the course of quantitative analyses of nucleotides of immature sweet corn kernels,1) we isolated two new IAA derivatives, 7'-0-13 n-glucopyranoside of 3,7-dihydroxy-2-indolinone-3-acetic acid (A) and 8'-O-f3-n-glucopyranoside of 8-hydroxy-2-quinolone-4-carboxylic acid (B). In this paper, we describe the isolation and structural elucidation of these two new compounds (A and B). Recently, Bandurski et al.2) estimated the occurrence of the several IAA conjugates in a report on the catabolism of indole-3-acetic acid in germinating kernels of Zea mays, but did not isolate the compounds described here.
