Abstract

A new cyanogenic glucoside, acalyphin, was isolated from the aerial parts of Acalypha indica and its structure identified mainly by 'H NMR and 13C NMR methods as 3-cyano-3-/?-D-glucopyranosyloxy-2-hydroxy-4 methoxy-1-methyl-6(2,3_dihydro)pyridone. The new compound represents a new biogenetic type of cyanogenic glycoside.
