A cyanogenic glucoside from Ilex aquifolium

Abstract

A novel cyanogenic glucoside (2-P-o-glucopyranosyloxy-p-hydroxy-6,7-dihydromandelonitrile) has been isolated from the ethanolic extract of ripe fruits of Ibex aquifolium. Its structure has been established, primarily on the basis of IR, NMR and mass spectral data and its corresponding acetate.
