Four new alkaloids named isoapocavidine, torulosine, torulosinine and oxocoryrutine were isolated from whole plants of Dactylicapnos torulosa. The structures were elucidated by spectral studies including UV, MS, H-1, C-13 NMR, C-13-H-1 COSY and C-13-H-1 COLOC. Known alkaloids isolated from this plant are 8-acetonyl-dihydrosanguinarine, norsanguinarine, oxosanguinarine, (+/-)-alpha-hydrastine, (+/-)-apocavidine, (+/-)-adlumidine, (+/-)-bicuculline, (+/-)-cheilanthifoline, (+/-)-beta-hydrastine, (+/-)-demethylcorydalmine, protopine, fumaridine, 1-methoxyberberinium chloride, N-trans-feruloyltyramine, N-methylhydrasteine methyl ester, N-methylhydrasteine hydroxy lactam, N-methylhydrasteine and hunnemanine. The C-13 NMR data for some of the known compounds are given for the first time.
