Abstract

In addition to α-, β-, and γ-solamarine two new glycosides of tomatid-5-en-3β-ol (I) have been isolated from overground, vegetative parts of a chemovariety of Solanum dulcamara L. The first one, γ₁-solamarine, is isomeric with γ-solamarine (which should be named in future γ₂-solamarine) and has been shown to be α-L-rhamnopyranosyl-(1→2)-β-D-glucopyranosyltomatidenol (II). The second new glycoside, δ-solamarine, is the desrhamnosyl derivative of α-solamarine and thus has the structure of β-D-glucopyranosyl-(1→3)-β-D-galactopyranosyltomatidenol (III).
