The stem bark of Warburgia salutaris collected in Zoutpansberg mountains yielded a new drimane sesquiterpenoid lactone, salutarisolide, along with four known drimane sesquiterpenoids warburganal, mukaadial, polygodial and isopolygodial. The structure of salutarisolide was fully characterized from its spectral data. The lactone is structurally related to muzigadial.
