Abstract

Two new cyclic peptides, dichotomins F (1) and G (2), have been isolated from the roots of Stellaria dichotoma L. var. lanceolata Bge. As part of continuing research on biologically active cyclic peptides from higher plants, further purification of the n-BuOH-soluble fraction of the roots (used in folk medicine as an antifebrile) — guided by previous isolation of dichotomins A-E with cytotoxic and cyclooxygenase inhibitory activities — yielded these new peptides. Their structures were elucidated by chemical degradation, ESIMS-MS, and extensive 2D NMR methods. Dichotomins F and G showed moderate cyclooxygenase inhibitory activities, with 72.6% and 62.6% inhibition at 100 µM, respectively.
