From the extract of the fruits of Solanum xanthocarpum (Solanaceae), five new steroidal compounds were isolated and characterized: 4a-methyl-245-ethyl-5cc-cholest-7-en-3/?,22~-dioi (I), 3p,22<-dihydroxy-4amethyl-245-ethyl-5a-cholest-7-en-6-one (2), 38-benzoxy-l48,225-dihydroxy-4cc-methyl-245-ethyl-Scc-cholest-7en-6-one (3) 3~-benzoxy-14c(.22~-dihydroxy-4~-methyl-24~-ethyl-5~-cholest-7-en-6-one (4) and 3b-(p-hydroxy) benzoxy-22S-hydroxy-4r-methyl-24~-ethyl-5~-cholest-7-en-6-one (5).
