A new alkaloid, 1-(N-acetyl-N-methylamino)ethyl-3,4,6-trimethoxy-7-hydroxyphenanthrene, has been isolated from the heartwood of Aromadendron elegans. Other bases present were pontevedrine, liriodenine, N-acetylnornuciferine, N-acetylanonaine, predicentrine and oxoglaucine. © 1992.
