Abstract

In addition to those alkaloids already reported, the roots of Datura sanguinea contain the new base 6β-isovaleryloxy-3α-tigloyloxytropan- 7β-ol and 3α-tigloyloxytropane. Meteloidine, oscine, and (-)-3α-(α-hydroxy-β-phenylpropionyloxy)tropane (littorine) are components of both the root and leaf alkaloidal mixtures. The preparation of a number of new tropanetriol esters is reported.
