Abstract

The aerial part of Carthamus mareoticus afforded, in addition to known triterpenes, two new epimeric fucopyranosides of a sesquiterpene alcohol. The structures were elucidated by spectroscopic methods. The aerial parts of Onopordon corymbosum afforded dehydromehtensm, derivative and a related ester. The 8-(4-hydroxymethacryloil) 13C NMR of several natural and synthetic elemanolides are discussed.
