Abstract

Four new iso¯avanones, tetrapterols F±I, were isolated from roots of Sophora tetraptera in addition to seven known ¯avonoids, lupinifolin, 8-O-methylretusin, 5,7,40 -trihydroxy-6,30 -di(g,g-dimethylallyl)iso¯avone, (ÿ)-maackiain, sophoracarpan A, medicagol and 2-(2,4-dihydroxyphenyl)-5,6-methylenedioxybenzofuran. The structure of the new iso¯avanones was determined to be 3,5,7±trihydroxy-20 -methoxy-8-g,g-dimethylallyl-61,61-dimethylpyrano[21,31:40 ,30 ]iso¯avanone(tetrapterol F), 5,7,20 ,40 tetrahydroxy-6,50 -di(g,g-dimethylallyl)iso¯avanone(tetrapterol G), 5,7,20 ±trihydroxy±40 ±methoxy-8,50 -di(g,g-dimethylallyl) iso¯avanone(tetrapterol H) and 7,40 -dihydroxy-6,30 -di(g,g-dimethylallyl)iso¯avanone (tetrapterol I) by means of spectroscopic analysis.
