<jats:title>Abstract</jats:title><jats:p>From the stem bark of <jats:italic>Tetrapleura tetraptera</jats:italic>, two new oleanane‐type saponins, tetrapteroside A 3‐<jats:italic>O</jats:italic>‐{6‐<jats:italic>O</jats:italic>‐[(2<jats:italic>E</jats:italic>,6<jats:italic>S</jats:italic>)‐2,6‐dimethyl‐6‐hydroxyocta‐2,7‐dienoyl]‐β‐<jats:sc>D</jats:sc>‐glucopyranosyl‐(1 → 2)‐β‐<jats:sc>D</jats:sc>‐glucopyranosyl‐(1 → 3)‐β‐<jats:sc>D</jats:sc>‐glucopyranosyl‐(1 → 4)‐[β‐<jats:sc>D</jats:sc>‐glucopyranosyl‐(1 → 2)]‐β‐<jats:sc>D</jats:sc>‐glucopyranosyl}‐3,27‐dihydroxyoleanolic acid (1), and tetrapteroside B 3‐<jats:italic>O</jats:italic>‐{ β‐<jats:sc>D</jats:sc>‐glucopyranosyl‐(1 → 2)‐6‐<jats:italic>O</jats:italic>‐[(<jats:italic>E</jats:italic>)‐feruloyl]‐β‐<jats:sc>D</jats:sc>‐glucopyranosyl‐(1 → 3)‐β‐<jats:sc>D</jats:sc>‐glucopyranosyl‐(1 → 4)‐[β‐<jats:sc>D</jats:sc>‐glucopyranosyl‐(1 → 2)]‐β‐<jats:sc>D</jats:sc>‐glucopyranosyl}‐3,27‐dihydroxyoleanolic acid (2), were isolated. Further extractions from the roots led to the isolation of four known oleanane‐type saponins.
