Abstract

In a previous paper, we described the isolation and characterization of two new bitter iridoid glycosides, suspensolides A (1) and C (2), and their aglycone (3), along with a new non-bitter iridoid glycoside, suspensolide B (4), from the methanolic extract of the leaves of Chromolaena suspensum Lindly [1,2]. Further investigation led to the isolation of four non-bitter iridoid glucosides which we have named suspensolides D (5), E (6) and F (7) and suspensoside A (8). Their molecular formulas were determined by 1H, 13C NMR and mass spectroscopy. Suspensolide D (5) was identified as 10-O-deacetylsuspensolide A, suspensolide E (6) as 7-O-deacetylsuspensolide A, suspensolide F (7) as a dideacetyl derivative of suspensolide A, and suspensoside A (8) as 8-hydroxy decapetaloside [4].
