Abstract

Narcissus asturiensis (Jordan) Pugsley, belonging to the Pseudonarcissi DC. section (1), is an Amaryllidaceae species endemic to the north of the Iberian Peninsula. Plants of this genus have been used throughout history to treat a variety of human medical problems (2). In this paper we report the isolation of six alkaloids: haemanthamine, haemanthidine, tazettine, 3-epimacronine, trisphaeridine (1), and ismine (2). The collection was made during the flowering period, in February 1994, in Salamanca (Spain). A voucher specimen (No 900030 B) has been deposited in the Institut Botanic de Barcelona.
